Paris, France is the nation’s capital and largest city, with a population of 2,102,650 (January 2023). Since the 17th century, Paris has been one of the world's major centers of finance, diplomacy, commerce, culture, fashion, and gastronomy. Because of its leading role in the arts and sciences and its early adaptation of extensive street lighting, it became known as the City of Light in the 19th century. We will meet with and hear the testimony of GOI missionary Rita Dominique, who works with a local street ministry. We will also tour local sites of interest, to be determined. From there we will travel to…

Barcelona, Spain is a city on the country’s northeastern coast. It is the capital and largest city of the autonomous community of Catalonia, with a population of 1.6 million. It is one of the largest metropolises on the Mediterranean Sea, located on the coast between the mouths of the rivers Llobregat and Besos, bounded to the west by the Serra de Collserola mountain range. According to tradition, Barcelona was founded by either the Phoenicians or the Carthaginians, who had trading posts along the Catalonian coast. We will meet with GOI missionaries and learn about their work in the region. We will also tour local sites of interest, to be determined. From there we will travel to…

Madrid, Spain is the nation’s capital and most populous municipality with 3.4 million inhabitants. Madrid lies on the River Manzanares in the central part of the Iberian Peninsula, 650 meters above mean sea level. The capital city of both Spain and the surrounding autonomous community of Madrid since 1983,  it is also the political, economic, and cultural center of the country. Madrid’s climate features hot summers and cool winters. The primitive core of Madrid, a walled military outpost, dates back to the late 9th century, when under the Emirate of Cordoba. Conquered by Christians in 1083 (or 1085), it consolidated in the Late Middle Ages as a town of the Crown of Castile. We will meet with GOI missionaries and learn about their work in the region.
