GO Ministry Tour to Ecuador 2025

Ecuador is a country in northwestern South America, bordered by Columbia on the north, Peru on the east and south, and the Pacific Ocean on the west. Ecuador also includes the Galapagos Islands in the Pacific, about 621 miles west of the mainland. The country's capital is Quito, and its largest city is Guayaquil. Ecuador is situated right on the equator, its namesake. It is the same size as the state of Nevada, but has the Amazon rainforest, Andes mountains, and Galápagos Islands. The capital city of Quito is nestled in the Andes at 9,000 feet above sea level. The historic churches stand against the backdrop of snow- covered volcanoes. The architecture dates to the Spanish conquest in the 1500’s. 
 
On this trip, we will 

• visit a camp ministry near Patate and see how it is impacting youth, 
• see church planting efforts in the Andes Highlands and also Amazon with the Shuar people, 
• tour a Christian school on the edge of the Amazon,
• and see how English language outreach is used to serve the local church in Ambato.

 
Tentative Schedule

• May 16: Travel to Ecuador
• May 17: Drive to Chacauco (3 hours) / Bible study with GO missionaries Steve and Carol Thompson (missionaries)
• May 18: Worship in new church plant in Pelileo, Ecuador / Visit GO missionaries Chris & Madeline Yancey
• May 19: Travel to Macas, Ecuador, in the Amazon to visit GO missionaries Robin and Wendy Gutierrez and also Pato and Andrea Leon-Moeller.
• May 20: in Macas, worship with the Shuar tribe.
• May 21: to Tena, Ecuador, to visit the UNPES camp, run by Steve and Carol Thompson.
• May 22: Begin trek back to Quito stopping for lunch in Papallacta at the Hot Springs. Then on to Quito. 
• May 23: Debriefing day at El Refugio in Calacalí, Ecuador / visit equator museum / overnight flight back to the United States
• May 24: arrive home to U.S.A.
